Artist Statement

Glass, in a functional form or as a sculptural piece, is an art medium with a unique
advantage. Like a painting it can be smooth or rough, thick or thin, decorated or
plain. But its ability to capture and reflect light is its signature glory. Even as an
oozing hot liquid, when glowing from its core, it can captivate viewers.
The main focus of my work lies in the optical capabilities of it nature. Depth is enhanced through the use of either thinly layered transparent colours or thick clear glass or a combination of both. Each piece maintains a molten quality,
whether it is in a fluid lip or a loose form. The softness is sometimes
counterbalanced with a criselled lip or a thin wrap. Generally, my goal is to represent the mediums contrasting qualities: raw or liquid, smooth yet sharp,
