Our next featured artist:   Susanah Windrum - Copper Lizard Studio

My artwork is made in a way that is reminiscent of the prairie ranchers’ method - use what you have at hand to create something needed. Instead of trying to make a new piece of metal look old, I search for and find metal that already holds its own history and story - then join that with other aged pieces to create a new story.

I love the process of visualizing and creating something new, out of discarded objects and materials that once had a completely different purpose.

I work with recycled, post-consumer, and repurposed metal to create jewellery, low–relief sculptures and metal collages. My metal assemblages are constructed using traditional cold–connection jewellery techniques with a variety of different types of rivets. Metal to used to join metal, there is no soldering or welding.

Each Copper Lizard Studio piece is a unique, one-of kind artwork inspired by the way the metal has been transformed by aging, patina and wear.
